The Indji Watch Utilities Edition is a cloud-based risk mitigation tool designed specifically to aid utility grid operators by giving them greater insights into environmental threats (wildfires, lightning, earthquakes, high winds and conductor level icing) expected to impact their assets. Indi Watch allows the operator to be proactive in making better informed decisions on natural hazards that threaten their utility operations.
Indji Watch allows utility operators to configure hazard data sources which provide situational awareness of an event that may be unique to their region. In addition to national weather and hazard data, Indji Watch incorporates relevant local data sources and user feedback that solve the needs of our utility clients. This has lead to the integration of customer owned weather stations, local wildfire updates and the recent launch of the most innovative forecast radar and forecast lightning tools for operations planning.
The unique patented system provides dynamic modelling of hazards enabling the identification of weather threats to assets. Utility assets, including power lines and sub-stations, are accurately identified in contrast to other systems which only alert based on a handful of points within the utility network. Indji Watch provides the operations personnel greater visibility into weather threats and allows them to quickly identify which assets are under threat.
Team members can choose to receive threat alerts via their mobile device, tablet or desktop device with no license restrictions.

Transmission and Distribution Operators make critical decisions in real time. Decisions with cascading effects throughout the company and service territory. Environmental conditions are a major factor which impact these decisions. We believe a utility should be alerted to these threats based on real-time weather and other natural hazards. Data that directly impact their lines, feeders, substations and generation facilities. Grid Operations supervisors can customize alert thresholds and Indji Watch monitors all natural hazards and automatically alerts your business when these thresholds are expected to be exceeded. We continuously keep your business aware of threats and hazards with our online real-time interactive maps and threat dashboards.
Plan with the advanced 8+ hour Forecast Radar and Forecast Lightning animation tools for assessing the potential weather approaching the grid. Custom Point Forecast locations can be selected allowing you to set alert thresholds for conductor icing, extreme winds and temperature forecasts that best represent the service territory. The Plan of Day, Plan of Week and Two Week Planner can help you visualize these forecasts for operations and maintenance planning by seeing potential weather-related threats hours or days in advance.
Respond using the Asset Threat Window which shows a live view of all current threats directly impacting your transmission lines and other assets, including the threat type, distance to each asset and when the threat was last updated.
Investigate with the Lightning Fault Analyst for early lightning fault correlation and outage location response. With the Lightning Fault Analyst tool, see the distance between where the strike occurred and your asset, so you can save time directing maintenance crews to a specific location, instead of manually searching for the strike location. The Lightning Fault Analyst will also give you the amplitude in kiloamps (kA) of the lightning strike and the time the strike occurred to aid with fault correlation and reporting.
Indji Systems partners with Vaisala who owns the National Lightning Detection Network. The location accuracy has improved over the years and now plotting of the strikes can be accurate to within 100-150 meters.
Yes. The Threat Alert Window allows you to see a list of each of your assets, the type of threat and distance to your asset. It is easily sortable, allowing you to focus on a specific asset or threat type.
Yes, the Lightning Fault Analyst tool in Indji Watch will allow you to select a single line or a combination of lines, the approximate recorded fault time, and the time period you want to search. You have the ability to do a historic search up to 72 hours. (Additional time may be added to your contract)
Indji Watch uses custom modeling to forecast ice accumulation on radial surfaces like conductors and tree branches. Plus, it is an elevated icing forecast focused at conductor level heights of 20-30 meters, not road surfaces. But Indji Watch doesn't stop there. We only alert the utility if both the forecasted ice buildup and winds both exceed thresholds you set for ice load alerts.
Yes. You can select the alert distance to your circuits, and Indji Watch will alert you to both agency verified wildfires, as well as, high probability satellite detected hotspots which could be new fires from blowing embers, lightning or human activity.
No. Indji Systems knows that when you have a threat against your grid assets, you need to expand situational awareness. So you can add users both inside and outside the system control centers, including expanding the use of the Indji Watch Utilities Edition mobile app for management and electric and HP gas field operations.
